Registered with AASW Australian Association of Social Workers & abides by the AASW Code Of Ethics. Holds AMHSW registration with AASW and is a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker. Has extensive post graduate training and experience in the field of Mental Health.

Registered provider for Psychological services under Medicare & implements only evidence-based strategies as approved & required under Medicare.

Undertakes ongoing professional development and training to maintain accreditation with AASW & engages in regular supervision.

How to access psychological intervention and support at AB counselling services:

You may be entitled to access a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year under the Medicare Better Access scheme or Mental Health Care Plan MHCP. If identified that you may benefit from further treatment after the 6th session, contact with your identified GP will occur and a request for consideration of your eligibility to access a further 4 sessions will be requested.  

Under Medicare compliance, the primary treatment modality employed at AB Counselling Services is CBT Cognitive Behaviour Therapy & ACT Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.  Full fee paying clients are treated utilising various psychological treatment modalities including CBT & ACT though not limited to; Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapies.

Professional Background:

Ana holds a Bachelor of Social Work Degree completed with Deakin University in 1999 & a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences Degree completed in 1993. 

Ana is a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker and a register provider with Medicare Australia. She has been assessed by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as having specialised mental health expertise. An accredited Mental Health Social Worker in private practice is eligible to provide services through the Commonwealth funded Better Access to Mental Health Care and Chronic Disease Management ( Enhanced Primary Care) programs. Social Workers are also providers in the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) program. Ana also holds registration with The Department of Veterans Affairs and is an eligible provider to assist to DVA clients. 


Ana has worked in various settings throughout her Career including remote, rural and metropolitan, including working with Indigenous People in the Pilbara area of W.A. & The Northern Territory. Her work experience includes employment with The Department of Human Services, The Department of Health, Child Protection, Age Care and Reconnect – Family Support Services as well as the Private Therapy Setting. 


Previous therapy work includes employment with EASA - Employment Assistance Services Australia where she was involved in provision of crisis intervention and trauma assist support including delivery of services for critical incidents and natural disaster management. Ana has worked with clients under the EAP program – Employment Assistance Program and has held registration with Converge, Davidson Trahaire and the OSA group. Ana has vast experience in working with General Practitioners, Insurance companies and government and non-government Professionals & Organizations. She was involved in provision of counselling, training, mediation and consultancy work as well as provision of professional supervision.  As a result, Ana has acquired specialized knowledge which she brings to private practice. 


Ana has worked extensively with Families including provision of parent / teenage conflict resolution and has been involved with assessing risk and providing relevant care including therapeutic strategies to assist children and families to achieve positive results in daily living and positive family functioning. 

Her vast experience in working around Australia in the Social Work field is testament to her passion for creating positive change for Individuals. AB Counselling focuses on affordable and effective psychological interventions for all Australians – an inclusive approach.
